Matthew Amha is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster, producer, and critic with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. His reporting, criticism, and interviews on politics, race, culture, and foreign affairs have appeared across CBC television, radio, and podcasts, as well as Canada’s national current affairs magazine, Maclean’s.

He is currently a producer and guest host with CBC’s daily news podcast Front Burner, and has also guest-hosted a range of national programs across CBC Radio. He joined the launch team at Front Burner in 2019, and his work there has included reporting, producing, and hosting hundreds of episodes across politics, democracy, war, media, and culture.

Matthew was previously the host, producer, and writer of The Africas vs. America, a seven-part documentary podcast about the Philadelphia-based MOVE organization and the 1985 bombing of the group’s home. His work has also appeared on flagship CBC programs including The National, The Current, Q, and Commotion.

He joined CBC in 2018 as the recipient of the Joan Donaldson News Scholarship. Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University, where he minored in communication.
